Patio & Pathway Overhaul – March

🔧 Before: Uneven Slate Path & Neglected Access

Prior to our transformation, the outdoor space in March consisted of aged paving slabs and a deteriorating patio area that had become uneven, unattractive, and hard to maintain. The surface lacked proper edging and drainage, resulting in potential trip hazards and a neglected overall appearance. The area didn’t complement the property and offered little functionality for everyday use.

Key issues:

  • Uneven, weathered paving slabs creating unstable footing
  • Poorly defined edges and no clear layout for the patio area
  • Outdated, unattractive appearance that detracted from the garden’s look
  • Hard to clean, prone to moss buildup, and unsuitable for regular outdoor activities

🧱 Our Vision

The goal for this project was to revamp a tired and uneven patio area, replacing unstable paving slabs with a smooth, low-maintenance resin-bound surface. The existing setup lacked proper drainage, had no edging definition, and left the outdoor space looking unfinished and difficult to use.

 Planned works included:

  • Full removal of old paving slabs and loose ground material
  • Preparation of a solid, level sub-base to ensure long-term stability
  • Installation of new edging blocks to create clean, defined borders
  • Laying a high-quality resin-bound gravel surface for a modern, attractive look
  • A permeable finish designed to improve drainage and reduce water pooling

The Results

🧱 Side Pathway Upgrade – March Project

This pathway had become unstable, with loose gravel that easily shifted underfoot and created a messy, uneven surface. The lack of proper edging made maintenance difficult and left the area looking untidy.

We transformed the space by removing the old material, laying a solid, level base, and installing clean charcoal edging blocks to give definition and structure. A high-quality resin-bound surface was then applied, creating a smooth, durable, and low-maintenance walkway.

  • Full removal of old gravel and preparation of a solid base
  • Charcoal edging blocks for structure and a clean boundary
  • Resin-bound, permeable surface for easy drainage
  • Weed-resistant, low-maintenance finish for a neat, modern look

🌊 Sorrento Resin Mix (Resin Mill)

Why This Mix Was Chosen for This Project

  • Cool, Contemporary Colour Blend: Sorrento features a crisp mix of silver, greys, and white tones—perfect for a modern, clean aesthetic. It brightens darker spaces and complements both light and dark surroundings, including brick, render, or timber.

  • UV-Stable & Weather-Resistant: Manufactured by The Resin Mill, this mix is UV-stable, meaning it won’t yellow or fade in direct sunlight—keeping its fresh look for years to come.

  • Textured for Safety & Style: The fine-to-mid aggregate delivers a smooth finish with excellent grip underfoot, making it ideal for paths, driveways, or courtyards.

  • Sharp with Charcoal Edging: Sorrento pairs especially well with bold edging like charcoal blocks, giving sharp visual contrast and a premium finish—just like in this project.
